DRAFT PROPOSAL

Proposal
The purpose of my report being made is to create a pitch which can enhance my chances of a producer notcing my work and making it into a feature film. The name of my film is Followed. the genre of the film would be a horror but it will not be your typical horror because in my research 2 out of 3 people said that jump-scares are overused in most modern day horror films.I researched trends which gave me the majority of my target audiece which was people between the age of 16 and over. I believe my short film would suit my audience because the plot is based on social networking which could appeal to people 16 and over. For the budget of my film i need to consider my location fees, and other expenses such as equipment hire.

My Idea: short summary
Girl meets boy on twiter,But the boy is following her in real life. screen blacks out and then girl is being tortured at an abandoned envionment. this idea is based off of a girl who got too engulfed in the internet and fell in love with this online figure and they decide to meet and she decides not to inform her parents and she is found tied to a chair in a warehouse covered in blood.

Hook: the fact that th girl meets the boy but she doesn't know the truth about the boy. so this engages the audience into the overall experience. with the audience wanting to find out about the mysterious online boy.

Twist: the girl wakes up coverd in blood in a mysterous abandoned location, leaving the audience on edge. this leaves the audince to think how she got there and why she got there and the boys identity is revealed and he isn't who he meant to be.

The Film Rating
the way i researched the rating of my film was by comparing the rating of the films which inspired my idea. for example i used the film trust for inspiration and trust was rated a 15 due to the use of strong language, and infrequent sexual violence. below you can see a screen shot from the BBFC website to show what content is suitable for a film rated 15.

Primary Research

I searched through the comment section trying to find people who discussed about the technical side of film and Jose Rivera mentioned about jump-scares being used to frequently in modern day films of the horror genre. Also after looking through comments I found out that 80% of people were more interested in a film which would have been based on a true story.

Secondary Research

After searching the web for articles related to the plot of my story, I found a few links such as crimes committed, song lyrics and Films. so i found existing shows such as catfish which is when people find love online and start thinking about meeting the person in real life but it isn't always who they expected it to be, which links to my one minte short film. below are some links related to true stories and public social experiments, I think when you have a film which is based on a true story it can enhance the overall tramatic experience of the charcter.

External Links:

the links i found were associated with online child predators being caught and tracked down and the others are about cases when the child or teenager has been raped or murdered. when researching i found a youtuber called Cody Persin who decided to create a social experiment. when he pretended to be a local boy in the area and then he contacted the parents of the girls which he was chatting to for days and the results were shocking due to every daughter went and met Cody but he was accompanied by there parents some girls even gave their own addresses.

Finance

When wanting to create movies and you realise you need money they're certain methods for example

  • Kick-starter - is the world's largest website which help people fund ideas and projects over the world.

  • BFI - this stands for the British Film Institute which helps smaller companies get promoted.

  •  Private Finance - is a loan company which is used for specific specifications.

  • Investors - will venture into your projects and support you financial for either the whole of the cost or part of it with a group of other investors.

  • National lottery - offers funding on a charitable basis to charities who work on projects.

companies such as these invest money into small content creators.

Facilities

When filming my prodction I will need obvious things such as lighting which will affect how professional my film looks.  Also I will require a tripod to hold the camera still.  For post production I will need an editing suite with programmes such as Final cut pro, Photoshop to add various special effects.  Due to me being in college I will not have to pay to use resources, but if I was not a member of the college to dry hire an editing suite would cost £250.00 a day.
