SCT VS MCT/ NARATIVES FORMATS
Single Camera Production
Single camera production is when a show is being created or filmed it will only use one camera. An advantage of this is that scenes won’t have to be shot as frequently due to errors in angle sequences. Using single camera production can benefit a content creator as it minimizes costs by not having to hire out other cameras or camera operators. When using multi-camera production you always have to make sure your camera isn’t left in shot but with single camera you don’t have this problem. An example of programme that uses single camera production is the office . the disadvantages of single camera production can be that it involves a lot of editing , also when you when you are filming with a single camera it involves time to adjust and alter for a new sort of shot. when using one camera you are limited to the amount of shots you can have.
multi-camera production is when something such as a programme is being filmed with multiple cameras this is often used at live events such as talk shows and concerts. most multi-camera shows are shot in a studio while the live footage is controlled by a visual mixer while the audience watches at home. in a studio the lighting is controlled remotely by crew. filming with multiple cameras captures all the action in multiple shots. shows that use multi-camera are often talk shows like Jeremy Kyle and live festivals such as Glastonbury. At Glastonbury they would have a camera facing the crowd and then on the main singer and then a backstage camera , the effect of this is that all the action is covered but at different angles and perspectives.
which is better?
single camera production is cheapest because first of all you have to pay for less equipment and less camera operators. but with multi- costs are extremely higher.also when using multi-camera you can save time when filming because it saves you from moving your set ups around. although there is a time advantage with setups there is a problem when filming multi-camera because you can get other cameras caught in shot.
MULTI-CAMERA EXAMPLES
The Jeremy Kyle show is a multi-camera programme because it is live it requires multi-cameras to pick up any action that you may missed if you was to use one camera. with Jeremy Kyle being a multi-camera production it means it is edited live as the show goes on with a vision mixer.
Another example of a multi- production would be live at Glastonbury when the concert is filmed, the concert is multi-camera because there are different angles such as
- Crowd shot
- drummer cam
- front row cam
- main singer cam
- shot for the backing dancers
- master shot of stage and all subjects
the Shot are used to add excite to the viewer because if it was just one shot the whole time would be boring, so i believe that multi-cams make a production a lot more interesting and professional.
An example of a sing camera production can be Come fly with me which is a comedy shot by the BBC, this is a single camera production which is shot b its self and then the sequence of shots are added together to build a complete sequence.
SINGLE-CAMERA EXAMPLES
An example of a sing camera production can be Come fly with me which is a comedy shot by the BBC, this is a single camera production which is shot b its self and then the sequence of shots are added together to build a complete sequence.
Another example of single camera production is Utopia because it includes the 180 degree rule and it is filmed in different setups and then added together to create a complete sequence.
NARATIVES
Series: A series is when it is a continuing story with the same characters but it will be from a different characters perspective. A good example of this is "The Inbetweeners".
NARATIVES
Series: A series is when it is a continuing story with the same characters but it will be from a different characters perspective. A good example of this is "The Inbetweeners".

Serial: A serial is when a story is told, but it is split up into loads of episodes. a good example for a serial can be "Narcos".

Single: A single is when you have a story which is told in one short film, this is common for most films to be self contained. A good example is "The Gift"
Linear Narrative is when the story line goes from start to middle and to end. This means the film includes no flashbacks or flash fowards.
Non linear Narrative: is when the story has filmed and it includes flash backs
Episodic Narrative is when a story is told through a series of episodes an example of this is a soap such as Eastenders.
Open and Closed closed is when you compress a story which is 20 years long into 2 hours long a good example of this can be "About Time" Open is when the story has no foreseeable ending and example of this is" Coronation Street"
Realist: Realist is when the story is possible and quite realistic a good example of this is"127 Hours"
Anti-realist: Anti-realist is when you have a story which unrealistic for example a show which involves science fiction, a good example of this is "Star Wars."
Multi-stranded: Multi-stranded is when the characters will somehow be linked all together at the end. A good example of this is " Holby City

SCT Techniques
This is a small thriller that i created to show camera techniques. extreme close up to pick up main intriguing things in the scene such as facial expressions. match on action shot is used to add continuity to a scene which makes the flow of the short film smoother and professional. also we use high and low angles to show dominance and vulnerability to certain characters. also i use a zoom which isn't very common in professional film productions although it is a good technique.also tilt shot is use to distort the concept of the shot. also a master shot is a shot which contains all characters and the background.
SCT Techniques
In film , lighting is one of the important elements for example it can alter your background contrast , which can make it easier when filming at night. also using lighting while filming can make your production look better. the photo below shows the different and contrast in color.

SCT Techniques
The 180 degree rule starts with an establishing shot but with this shot you will pick up a imaginary line in which the cameras can only be on the same side as the establishing shot was. also with this rule it will be an over the shoulder shot not passing the line. otherwise the shot in split screen will be facing each other when they should be facing the same way.
rule of thirds is a technique which uses grid lines, for example the primary aspects in the depth of field will line up upon the grid lines. the rule of thirds is used as guidelines to control the depth of field. this can be used for establishing shots and a tilting shot.
match on action is when two shots are put together in an effect of good contenuty in which the audience can see the scene continuing from two different shots.
SCT Techniques
Dead space- is a term used to describe the space wen there is too much space.
Lead room- lead room is the bit in the shot where everything happens.
Anticipatory framing- is when the camera knows what happening before the start of the scene rather than the camera reacting to the action
SCT Techniques
Pan - Pan is a camera movement when the camera moves left and right .
Tilt - Tilt is a camera movement its a tilt when it moves up or down, for example the camera takes a shot from over the shoulder of a character and the it changes to a related view
Dutch Tilt - Dutch tilt is a camera is deliberately tilted on one side, used for dramatic effect
Zoom - Zoom is zooming in and out of the character while simultaneously adjusting the zoom angle to keep the character in the same place
pan- camera follows the subject of action
SCT Techniques
shallow focus- used to pick up smaller details in a smaller depth of field

Web serial Production
the type of production I am making is a web series which will be focused on a teen drama. pre production involves a lot of examples for example, it requires operators of equipment and location hire and many more. here is a list of the crew needed to film the webisode:
Actors
Camera operators
Sound man
Runner
Director
Lighting Man
Creator
Script Writer
Production workers
The pay scale of film crew can be very expensive. First of all, we have our production workers, Earn £250.00 per day. Then we have our lighting crew, Earn £500.00 per day. At this stage we have to decide whether it is a single camera or multi camera production. This can affect how many camera operators we have on set. With every good visual in a movie, it provides good sound. so a sound crew would be on £450.00 per day.
Finance
When wanting to create movies and you realise you need money they're certain methods for example
Kick-starter - is the world's largest website which help people fund ideas and projects over the world.
BFI - this stands for the British Film Institute which helps smaller companies get promoted.
Private Finance - is a loan company which is used for specific specifications.
Investors - will venture into your projects and support you financial for either the whole of the cost or part of it with a group of other investors.
National lottery - offers funding on a charitable basis to charities who work on projects.
companies such as these invest money into small content creators.
Time
When trying to film your first webisode, this will require us to be organised when hiring equipment from our college. With this we will have to consider how many days we spend shooting and how long we will spend editing. A reason to consider this is that it will give you the option to reduce costs and may leave a small budget for eventualities. In order to keep the crew organised I would have call sheets which will keep my crew in order and prepared for any situations that they may face.
Crew and Personnel
In my crew it would consist of 8 members. There will be 4 Actors and there will be 1 Director, 1 Camera Operator, 1 Editor and 1 Runner. I find these roles suitable for my crew as they will keep production in time with no issues. Our Director will make big decisions to control the flow of the production.
Facilities
When filming my production I will need obvious things such as lighting which will affect how professional my film looks. Also I will require a tripod to hold the camera still. For post production I will need an editing suite with programmes such as Final cut pro, Photoshop to add various special effects. Due to me being in college I will not have to pay to use resources, but if I was not a member of the college to dry hire an editing suite would cost £250.00 a day.
Material
When trying to find when certain material can be used when trying to avoid the Copyright Act. Companies such as Apple would be paid for product placement. If a payment was avoided, this could result in Copyright strikes or even being sued by the company itself.
Contributors
When casting actors you would have to go through certain agencies in the result for publicity. With me being in college, I will not have to pay actors and they will be my fellow classmates or friends. This results in a low budget which allows you to spend in other areas of the production.
Locations
When finding locations to shoot, it can be very difficult if you do not have permission and often payment is required for the use of their location. As I am a student I would have to ask for permission from the property owner or organisation to where I can shoot my webisode.
Health and Safety
Health and Safety would be paramount when making my webisode as in today society, people or staff will sue if an accident and their safety in put in danger. This to consider:
location - Are there sufficient to say filming is taking place, also tape to highlight area when the production crew are situated.
Equipment - has all equipment been PAC Tested to ensure that the crew do not have any electric shocks.
Props - Are all the props in good working order.
